Acupuncture Treatments To Balance The Body

Transform Your Wellbeing With Acupuncture

When Jesse uses acupuncture he invites the body into a state of balance through time-honoured practices rooted in Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM).
Led by Jesse, a practitioner with a unique blend of sports medicine knowledge and traditional techniques.
We focus on realigning the body and supporting the body’s innate ability to self-regulate and restore.

What Acupuncture May Support

Many people seek acupuncture to support a wide range of health concerns or functional imbalances. While Jesse tailors each treatment to the individual, the following are some of the common areas people explore acupuncture for:

  • Sports training recovery and injuries

  • musculoskeletal pain

  • Migraines and neurological tension

  • Women’s health and hormonal balance

  • Cosmetic acupuncture

  • Stress regulation

  • Digestive health and gut support

Jesse brings a keen interest in pain modulation, particularly in relation to nerve sensitivity syndromes or peripheral neuropathy – such as fibromyalgia, peripheral neuropathy and sports-related injuries.

Jesse can work with you to create individualised plans that focus on restoring function, relieving discomfort, and increasing resilience.

Does Acupuncture Hurt?

That’s the number one question. And the honest answer? It shouldn’t.
Most clients report a light tingling sensation, a dull ache or a momentary feeling of warmth or pressure, known as the “arrival of qi.” It’s fleeting, and many people drift into a light sleep once the needles are placed.
For the needle-shy, Jesse also offers non-insertive techniques such as cupping, gua sha, moxibustion and Pa-Chi Piezo Stimulation. This an option for those with heightened sensitivity or a preference for hands-on modalities.

After an Acupuncture Session

Many people walk away feeling relaxed, clear-headed, or deeply grounded.
Some feel more energized, while others notice a wave of fatigue, both signs that the nervous system is recalibrating. If your body asks for rest, listen. This is your system shifting gears.

Over time, acupuncture may support the body’s ability to recover, recalibrate and maintain a more sustainable baseline of wellbeing, without relying on external stimulants or interventions

Acupuncture & Other Therapies

Fine sterile needles are used to gently stimulate the body’s acu-points — chosen to harmonise, tonify, or move Qi and Blood depending on the pattern Jesse identifies. Acupuncture may be integrated with:

  • Electro Acupuncture – For chronic tension or nerve modulation

  • Moxibustion – For warmth, nourishment and energy circulation

  • Cupping Therapy – To release surface stagnation and muscular holding

  • Gua Sha – For fascia release and lymphatic flow

Each treatment is tailored to you, and may involve one or several of these methods.

Type of Acupuncture - Electro-Acupuncture

A Gentle & Targeted Upgrade

In some sessions, Jesse may use Electro-Acupuncture, a technique that gently pulses a low electrical current between acupuncture points to help support deep muscle tension, nerve sensitivity, or post-injury recovery.
This rhythmic stimulation complements traditional acupuncture by offering a more focused, consistent signal to the body. Most clients find it relaxing, precise and subtly energising.

At its core, electro-acupuncture uses fine acupuncture needles as conduction points for a gentle, rhythmic electrical current. Think of it as a way to speak more directly to the nervous system, amplifying the signals that encourage the body’s healing and regulatory processes.

Tiny leads connect pairs of acupuncture needles to a specialized low-frequency device. The current is subtle — most clients feel a light tapping, tingling or pulsing, never pain. Jesse carefully selects the frequency and waveform to suit your constitution and presentation.

It’s not just about “zapping the area.” The method relies on correct point pairing, depth, angle, and pulse frequency, and Jesse’s background in both sports therapy and traditional medicine allows him to tailor treatments to meet complex, real-world presentations.

This modality can be particularly useful when people are experiencing:

  • Nerve hypersensitivity or nerve fatigue (as in fibromyalgia-type patterns)

  • Myofascial pain syndromes where tension recurs or resists passive treatment

  • Deep trigger point activity or post-exercise recovery stiffness

  • Residual tightness post-injury or post-surgical adaptation

  • Localised numbness, tingling, or altered sensation

  • Functional muscle inhibition or imbalance, especially in athletic performance recovery

Jesse often integrates electro-acupuncture as part of a broader plan, sometimes alongside cupping, gua sha, or moxibustion to support full-tissue engagement.

What Is Electro-Acupuncture?

Who Might Consider Electro-Acupuncture?

Sometimes, the nervous system becomes “stuck” holding patterns of protection long after the original strain has healed. Electro-acupuncture offers a consistent and specific cue that helps tissues reorganize. Instead of relying on manual pressure or passive rest, the body is given a rhythmic nudge to recalibrate, often without increasing systemic stress.

Rather than “overriding” the body’s signals, Jesse uses electro-acupuncture to refine them gradually encouraging a shift from guarded contraction into adaptive flow.

Cosmetic Acupuncture

Type of Acupuncture - Cosmetic Acupuncture

Cosmetic acupuncture offers a gentle, drug-free approach to facial rejuvenation and skin vitality, combining traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) principles with targeted facial needling. This is not about chasing lines or freezing expression. It’s about improving circulation, tone, and the body’s own regenerative processes, while supporting the nervous system and internal balance.

What Is Cosmetic Acupuncture?

Cosmetic acupuncture involves the use of ultra-fine, sterile needles placed on the face, scalp, and body. On the face, the needling is designed to:

  • Increase local blood flow and collagen production

  • Encourage muscle tone and facial symmetry

  • Support the skin’s elasticity and hydration

  • Address areas of tightness, stagnation, or puffiness

Points on the body are also used to address underlying patterns contributing to skin quality, including stress, digestion, sleep, and hormonal rhythms

Who Is This For?

Cosmetic acupuncture is suitable for anyone wanting to:

  • Improve skin texture, tone or clarity

  • Support facial muscle balance or tension (e.g. jaw tightness, asymmetry)

  • Explore natural, non-invasive methods of aesthetic care

  • Reduce puffiness or dullness linked to circulation or stagnation

It’s commonly chosen by people seeking a gentler alternative to injectables, or those who prefer a whole-body approach to skin health. Jesse combines pulse, palpation, and functional movement assessment to guide treatment decisions.

How Many Sessions Do I Need?

Visible changes often begin after a few sessions, but like training or mobility work, results tend to build over time. Jesse usually recommends a series of treatments spaced weekly or fortnightly, followed by maintenance sessions depending on your goals.

He’ll assess your needs during your initial consult and give clear guidance on what’s realistic.

Is There Downtime?

No. Cosmetic acupuncture doesn’t involve chemicals, fillers, or long recovery periods. You may see some light redness or rarely a small bruise, but most people leave feeling grounded, refreshed, and more vibrant, even after the first session.

Sessions are also calming. Many clients report improved sleep, digestion, or stress resilience after a course of treatments, a natural side effect of working with the whole system.
